Abstrak

The growth and development of the population in the era of globalization has resulted in many businesses starting to emerge that are founded by the community, one of the businesses is laundry cleaning services. Liquid waste from clothes washing businesses contains a lot of phosphate which is toxic and can cause eutrophication of water, therefore it needs to be treated first before being discharged into the environment. One method that can be applied is adsorption. Chemical adsorbents often cause side effects on the environment, therefore it is necessary to develop natural adsorbents from biomass in the environment itself. This research aims to determine the reduction in phosphate levels in artificial laundry wastewater using jengkol peel as an adsorbent. This research uses the batch method, batch adsorption will provide an overview of the capabilities of the adsorbent by contacting it with the adsorbate solution in a container for a certain time interval without any flow in and out of the system. The results of the research were that at an adsorption speed of activated charcoal adsorbent of 2 grams at 5-10 minutes, the adsorption speed was 0.516 mg/l/minute, at an activated charcoal adsorbent adsorption speed of 3 grams at 0-5 minutes, the adsorption speed was 0.774 mg. /l/minute, and at an adsorption speed of 4 grams of activated charcoal adsorbent at 0-5 minutes, the adsorption speed was 1.248 mg/l/minute. The more adsorbent the better the reduction in phosphate concentration.
